Alzheimers Assisted Living
Memory Care
Memory Care is a safe haven designed to meet the special needs of people with impaired memory. By creating pleasant days in what could feel like a confusing world, our individually tailored programs provide compassionate care and meaningful interaction. Building upon the strengths and skills of each resident, our Memory Care program provides a sense of security for residents and peace of mind for family members. Guidelines from the Alzheimer’s Association are used to create an atmosphere that provides residents with a sense of comfort, dignity and well-being, all in a soothing, homelike setting. Our staff is firmly committed to helping those with memory loss maintain their independence and dignity for as long as possible.
Services Customized to the Individual: We know how difficult the decision is to help a loved one move into any new home, but it can be especially challenging when there are special needs related to dementia. As a part of this process, we meet with family members and their loved one to assess their unique needs and offer the choice of care and services that will maintain their highest level of dignity and independence. We offer a variety of memory care services customized to the individual.
Team Specially Trained: Our caregivers are selected based upon their personal characteristics of patience, creativity, flexibility, and a personal mission to care for older adults who have dementia. Our Memory Care staff and managers receive extensive and on-going training in how to best care for and communicate with residents with dementia.
Outstanding Programs: From our first contact with a family and continuing throughout a resident’s stay, we learn everything we can about each individual. Prior to move-in, we meet with the individual and their loved ones to learn their unique history, interests, challenges and effective special approaches. Together we design a customized recipe for care. We help residents stay in touch with parts of their past that they may have forgotten but from which they still receive joy. We learn what we need to do to help each day be a pleasant day.
Restorative Environment: We offer a restorative environment that feels very much like home but compensates for the challenges associated with
dementia and memory loss. Based upon state-of-the-art, evidence-based research, our Memory Care offers a safe haven for on-going supervision; comfortable and familiar spaces such as a den and a kitchen; areas that support long-term memory and way finding; furniture and focus objects (such as rockers, fireplaces and front porches that gently comfort and lessen distress); and, of course, a lovely garden.
Your story continues here… We encourage residents to tell their life experiences and to use skills and roles that are important to them, whether it’s baking cookies, organizing files, or leading a committee meeting. Being needed and having a purpose is important to everyone, but it is especially important for those with memory impairment.
