Jake's Story
Crooner
Jake was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he was a construction manager. He had two brothers, two sisters and a mom who inspired all of them to pursue their musical talents. When he was a child, Jake played the piano and sang songs during big family gatherings. Nowadays, he plays for others at Horizon Bay, where he enjoys respect for his individual talents.
How did your mother influence you?
My mama was a songbird and she encouraged me to sing. I’m so thankful for that because I’ve met so many people along the way. She also introduced me to the biggest voice in music, the chairman himself, Mr. Frank Sinatra. I’ve been a patron ever since.
What do you like best about Frank Sinatra?
I love his sentimental songs and I’ll sing them to anyone who will listen. I’ve never met the guy but feel like I’m one of the pack with Dean, Sammy, Joey and Peter. I really like singing “You make me feel so young.” It’s a big hit here at Horizon Bay.
I hear they call you The Crooner?
I try. Every week, we have a Mix & Mingle at Horizon Bay. Some of us fellas and gals get together and sing from Sinatra’s songbook – the whole place just loves it. It makes me feel like a star.
