Meet Sanjay
Executive Director
The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting. Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
10 years.
What do you like best about your job?
Interacting with so many types of people.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Play guitar, read, and watch movies.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
Ghandi. He was a central figure that pulled from various cultures and religions to push for a positive difference.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
Godfather II. It’s a great generational tale of roots to branches.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
Quite simple…mama’s pizza. Every Friday growing up was homemade pizza night. Not a small task for a traditional Indian mother.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
They inspire in two ways:
1. They serve as a constant reminder of all of our futures in some manner or another.
2. They demonstrate that it’s often never to late to learn, enjoy and live.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
I befriended a resident in Cleveland that grew up in Little Italy in Cleveland. He took me to the Italian Club there and the manager recognized him from his childhood. Even though the club was closed, the manager made Joe and myself spicy Italian sausage, meatballs, and.all the wine he could drink. He told me that he had met Lucky Luciano here at the Club.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
I treat them like friends and family.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
We had a resident that ran marathons all the way until he was 80!
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
We have a resident whose health was failing at home and did not have family to oversee her needs. When she came to us, the doctors felt that she needed skilled nursing care around the clock. However, with the commitment of the all the team members and our ancillary health services, she is now one of our most active residents participating in all the programming.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
Their creativity and the way they apply it to work.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
By respecting each person through acknowledgment and praise, and by being honest about what we do right and where we need to improve.
