Meet Tom
Executive Director
The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting. Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
I have worked in the retirement industry over 12 years. I also have experience in physical rehabilitation, audiology and the long term care industry.
What do you like best about your job?
I like the diversity of people I get to meet and serve. There are many interesting, wise and knowledgeable residents who make our community exciting. It is truly a rich and rewarding place.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
In my free time I play guitar, dabble in photography and garden.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Abraham Lincoln because of the leadership and vision he had. He identified with a diverse people and valued their individuality.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is the “Godfather”. While I don’t agree with the family’s business, the movie uniquely portrays values of family, loyalty and duty. I am reminded of the families I grew up with in New Jersey. It has a great storyline and is beautifully filmed.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
My favorite desert is ice cream. It’s all-American. In the summer, I love a salad of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil and garlic with olive oil and red wine vinegar – it’s light and tasty. I love to cook and appreciate our Chef at Town Village for the fine food he prepares; I like almost all of his dishes.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
I am inspired by their knowledge and wisdom. Many of the residents are impressive in their abilities. They have wide ranging interests such as art, music, literature, business, physical fitness and gardening as hobbies. From their vocational background they bring a wide range of experiences such as home making, communications, education, business, medicine, politics and education to name a few.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
We honor residents by recognizing their uniqueness and finding opportunities for them to enrich their lives related to their social, vocational, physical, spiritual and intellectual selves. We create value and respect our residents for who they are.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
There are many residents that have remarkable stories to tell. Some are dramatic and some are stories of heroic everyday lives. All our residents have experiences from which we can learn.
