How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
15 years
What do you like best about your job?
I enjoy making a difference in our Residents' lives. We are able to build so many special relationships with our residents and families. This is their home, and home is where your memories are made. It is my hope that their experiences here at Prosperity Oaks are the memories that will endure through the remainder of their lives and their families for many years.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters, playing golf, and travelling.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
Colin Powell- I have a huge amount of respect for him as a military leader and humanitarian.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
The Notebook- This is a heart-felt movie that depicts the difficulties of dealing with Alzheimer’s disease which unfortunately we see so often in our environment.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
My favorite dish is a big plate of Sushi.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
Our residents have incredible stories to tell and share with us. It is so important for us to take the time to listen and learn from all of their wisdom and immense knowledge.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
I met a resident early in my career that ended up not only being a resident in my community, but a great personal friend. He lived most of his life in France and had many very interesting experiences to share. We became very good friends over a few years and he attended one of the greatest memories in my life – my wedding.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
We honor our residents by treating them with dignity and respect. We work to create an environment where each resident feels a great connection with other residents, volunteers, and staff.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
We often here about residents that came over to our country during the times of the great depression with not much more than the clothes they were wearing at the time, and made something out of nothing. I really enjoy just listening to the trials and tribulations that they went through because it makes me appreciate even more what we have.
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
It is so difficult to pinpoint just one remarkable story. There is one that does stick out in my mind. His name is Martin and is 89 years old. Martin has suffered from Parkinson’s disease for many years. When he moved into Prosperity Oaks his quality of life was not great, but now he is living an extremely full life. He was recently part of a winning wii bowling league team, and participates in a wide variety of other activities. Martin has truly thrived in the lifestyle provided at our community.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
Our employees inspire me by the way that they are able to create such meaningful relationships with our residents and families.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
We create a family-like atmosphere by treating all residents and staff like they are part of our extended family.
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
