Meet Vince
Executive Director
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
Work out at the gym and spend time with my wife and dogs. It gives me that physical and social balance between work and home life.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Donavan McNabb, the former Eagles quarterback. I’m a huge Eagles fan and he gave us many winning seasons. I would want to thank him for giving me hope and enjoyment over the past 11 years.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
The first Rocky movie. I have the bobble head of Rocky and the picture of the statue in my office for when things get tough. I can look at them for inspiration, as he was from Philly like me.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
I love pumpkin pie with whip cream topping. I only get it twice a year around Thanksgiving. I associate that dessert treat with family gatherings.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
I love listening to their life stories and making the personal connections. I find myself a big advocate of making their life better.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
I started a resident football pool at one of my communities. After each month the resident with the most wins gets a certificate and a prize. This little lady won the monthly prize and was so excited that she called her family out of state and was so joyful because she never won anything in her ninety plus years.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
I try to make the time to listen to them and follow through with their concerns. Respect for the person and being personable has carried through in Men’s monthly breakfast and weekly fire side chats.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
The resident was named Ann. She owned and managed a restaurant and would love to sit down with me once a week in the coffee shop and tell me some great stories of what it was like for a woman running the show back then. Her expertise on food and services was also enlightening.
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
One resident, Jackie, was not very active and felt like she was forced to be there because of her family. Once she got involved in activities and would visit me in my office weekly she eventually became president of the resident council and a strong advocate for the community.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
When they come together and want to embrace customer service.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
Listen and be personable. Weekly thank you cards for doing a good job and team building programs.
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
I will have to say that my Business Office Manager, Melissa, embodies the core values. Melissa has shown that she follows through with employee concerns and is always approachable with employees and residents. She has that moral compass that never wavers on doing the right things for all. I admire her and respect her hard work and smile daily to everyone.
