Meet Jeri
Director of Operations
The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting.
Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
I have worked as an RN for over 30 years, the last four at Harbour Home Care Services.
What do you like best about your job?
I like the flexibility of being able to use my analytical skills, as well as my nursing skills to better serve our home health clients.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I enjoy walking, bike riding, and reading. I also enjoy watching baseball, especially games in which my son is playing.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Benjamin Franklin and talk about his inventions and travels. I would also like to learn more about that period of time in the formation of our country.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
Sound of Music. This movie reminds me of the time I spent with my Aunt Marie, as she was the first one to take me to this show and I watch it every year. I also like the music.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
Anything chocolate. My absolute favorite would be my grandma’s chocolate sheet cake.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
Residents inspire me with their creativity and energy at events. They tire me out at times.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
I have a special gentleman who needed CPR in the ice cream parlor. Now when I see him on our campus, we always give hugs and he calls me his life saver.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
I honor the residents by listening and being mindful of the difficult decisions that many of them and their families may be facing.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
At our nurses lunch with residents and staff a resident told her story of being in the military, teaching at a university, and working with a physician’s office. She also shared her pictures and I felt honored to be caring for her now.
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
One couple moved here, he acquired an illness and has since died. Since she has lived here she remained active and had friends close to visit. Now she is engaged to be married and every day I see her she is beaming.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
I have employees that have worked in other departments and now are CNAs and going to school. Some have families and are working full time.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
We have full and part time employees and take the time to include everyone in events. We also value and respect their time.
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
I have many employees that embody all the core values and exceed my high expectations daily. These employees take pride in their work and treat their clients like they would treat their loved ones. I can train skills, but not caring.
