Meet Jamie
Executive Director
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
11 years
What do you like best about your job?
Every day is completely different.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I enjoy cooking, music, and very long drives. All 3 relax me.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
Princess Di – she was a great humanitarian.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
"Pay It Forward." The message sticks with you – if you pay it forward, people remember the good deeds you did.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
Rice! Rice with anything or on anything! It just is and always has been!
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
I enjoy the wisdom that residents share. They continue to educate me on life-long lessons.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
About 9 years ago at Halloween all the residents and the staff dressed up for trick-or-treat. Ms. Eloise wanted me to wear one of her wigs, and I did with rollers in it and a pair of P.J.’s! It was a picture moment and we all had fun!
How do you honor your residents at your community?
I listen! I appreciate that I work for them and am there to help make their home as enjoyable as I can.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
Gosh, I wish I could share just one. I have been told so many and all of them had so much weight to them. They are all remarkable because it is their story. I am the lucky one who gets to sit and listen!
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
It is difficult to leave your home of 50 years and move into a large community. We had a resident that said she wanted no one to bother her, so we didn’t. We let her get used to being here and now she is out and happy – leading the way with all the residents on how it can be overcome.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
Employees continue to push ahead to make a difference, they make me a better person. It inspires me to see that most of us in the industry are here for the right reasons.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
Everyone is important. We are family. We all care so we listen in order to make it right.
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
You think it would be easy to identify one specific employee who understands and demonstrates our core values all the time. The problem I am having is they all do. I have been amazed at the love, professionalism, respect and integrity that all staff demonstrate towards the residents. This community is full of happy staff which in turn makes for happy residents. There is never a job to big or too small that we all do not pull together to make it right for the residents.
