Meet Nick
Executive Director
The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting. Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
I have been in the retirement industry for a year and a half and previously in the hospitality industry.
What do you like best about your job?
Having the ability to improve lives on a daily basis.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I enjoy outdoor grilling, golfing and spending time with my family.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Joel Osteen. He is a great speaker and motivator.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is Gladiator because the main character is stripped of everything and everyone he loves but still manages to overcome his enemy to save a nation.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
My favorite dish is Flan. Flan is a Mexican custard desert with caramelized topping. Delicious! Also, my wife makes the best.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
Residents inspire me because each faces adversity everyday with a warm welcome and a smile.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
We honor our residents by treating them integrity, dignity and respect.
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
We have a resident who has been living in our community for over a year. At first, she was hesitant to participate in any programs offered and fell into a depressed state and decided she was not going to enjoy living at Horizon Bay. After the first few months she began attending activities and now she is an ambassador of our Welcoming Committee.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
Each is a specialist in what they do. They understand that the service they perform on a daily basis can make the difference between a good day and a bad day for our residents.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
I believe that we each contribute to the family-like atmosphere at our community because we respect each other and the roles that we play in the happiness of our residents. It takes a unique individual with the “spirit to serve” to work in the retirement industry. Most importantly we have fun and laugh every single day!
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
There is one who models our core values. She has a “can-do attitude” and performs her daily duties and any others that cross her path with a smile and a positive attitude.
