The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting. Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
1997
What do you like best about your job?
I love the residents. I love creating an environment for older people to thrive and enjoy.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
I love spending time with my two small children. I also enjoy scrapbooking my family’s memories.
If you could meet one person, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet Jesus because He was the most caring person to walk on the earth. I feel we all could use more caring values today.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
The Lake House. I like it because it shows if you want something bad enough and you never give up good things will happen.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
I like my mother’s steak and gravy because it reminds me of home.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
They have lived through so much and have more wisdom than we will ever have. We can learn so much from them everyday.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
We have Ambassador Luncheons and Birthday celebrations.
Tell us about a resident with a remarkable life story?
Ms. Ashley is a resident in my independent living community who is a wonderful artist. She continues to paint and sell her work to this day. Her specialty is painting Christmas Cards and selling them. This shows that you can continue to make the best of your life even in your later years.
Tell us about a resident whose life changed for the better once they moved to your community.
Mr. Bell moved into our community in Independent Living and his wife lived in Traditions. He moved in to be closer to her and visited her often. When she passed away Mr. Bell had a great support system and has enjoyed his life here.
In what ways do your employees inspire you? I have a wonderful group of employees.
My housekeeping staff really inspires me because their first priority is always the resident. They are by far the most thoughtful group of employees I have ever managed.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
I believe we create a family-like environment with the connection between our residents and my staff. You can enter my community at any time and find the staff and residents talking and enjoying each others company.
Tell us about an employee who embodies one of our core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism or teamwork.
LaDonna is a housekeeper here who goes above and beyond her normal duties everyday. She has a great heart for the residents and her job here. A few weeks ago we had a Mother/Daughter Banquet and LaDonna came to sit in for one of my resident’s daughters that could not make it to the Banquet. She does special things for the residents’ birthdays and really tries to make them feel special. She is also very thoughtful toward the other employees and makes everyone laugh. We are lucky to have her here.
