Meet Cheryl
Executive Director
The executive director, along with our friendly and professional staff, strives to create positive, stimulating ways for residents to continue living life with meaning and purpose. We are a friendly family where we treat residents like real people with real life stories.
Our community is a great story that includes heartwarming chapters and incredibly unique characters all in a wonderful setting. Here is the executive director’s story:
How long have you worked in the retirement industry?
21 Years
What do you like best about your job?
The privilege of meeting wonderful seniors, families and employees who have enriched my life.
What do you like to do in your free time and why?
One of my passions is traveling. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean and, of course, the US. I always say my favorite trip is the next one I’m planning.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
The Thomas Crowne Affair – it has great actors, an involved plot and is just plain fun.
What’s your favorite dish or dessert and why?
Ethnic food that’s spicy – Thai, Persian and Indian food.
In what ways do your residents inspire you?
Our residents inspire me with their great life stories.
Do you have any memorable experiences with a particular resident you would like to share?
One gentleman that comes to mind, Tom, told me his story of being in China and trekking up mountains to visit a monastery.
How do you honor your residents at your community?
Our residents are people who have been the backbone of this country. We have many veterans, both men and women, who were in World War II. One of our residents was a Flying Tiger. One of the women was a nurse in Europe. Each of them served their country and made a difference. Each year we have a celebration on Memorial Day and Veterans Day to recognize their contribution and thank them for serving.
In what ways do your employees inspire you?
Each day they implement the mission of Horizon Bay by acting out the Horizon Bay core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, professionalism and teamwork.
How do you create a family-like atmosphere at your community?
We’re committed to providing superior service to our residents in a loving, respectful, and kind way. Our team is made up of unique individuals who see their story continuing here. Our employees seek to support each other and make our time with the residents comfortable and fun.
